Full Description
June 2010. Norfolk NMP.
A rectilinear pattern of ditches, of uncertain date and function, is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S1)-(S4), centred at TG 2029 0978. The ditches occupy an area of relatively low-lying ground to the north of the River Wensum, and it is possible that they merely represent former drainage features. However, they lie slightly further back and higher than surrounding areas of extant drainage, and therefore some at least are more likely to represent former land division. The northeasternmost, double-ditched element, perhaps a trackway (visible at TG 2053 0974), was an earthwork in 1946, although it has since been levelled.
S. Tremlett (NMP), 12 June 2010.
