Summary

Double-ditched boundaries and possible trackways, of probable medieval to post medieval date, are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs. The boundaries show some affinity to the field pattern depicted on the Eaton Tithe Map of 1838, although others on this map are likely to be of later date.

Map

June 2010. Norfolk NMP.
Double-ditched and partly embanked(?) boundaries and possible trackways, of probable medieval to post medieval date, are visible as cropmarks (and possibly partly as earthworks) on aerial photographs (S1)-(S2), centred at TG 2012 0672. The boundaries show some affinity with the field pattern depicted on the Eaton Tithe Map of 1838 (S3), although others on this map are likely to be of later date. Further archaeological features are likely to have existed here, but their cropmarks are difficult to distinguish from those of the background geology. The monument polygon for the site reflects the area across which features or possible features (not all of which have been mapped) are visible.
S. Tremlett (NMP), 18 June 2010.
