Full Description
Before 13 March 2008. Metal-detecting.
Sixpence of Elizabeth I.
Information from PAS download [1].
A. Cattermole (HES), 14 February 2013.
Before 10 June 2010. Metal-detecting.
A fragment of a silver halfcrown of Charles I (AD 1625-1649). The obverse has been filed smooth and the border containing the reverse legend has been removed, leaving a round garnished shield containing the arms of Great Britain. The resulting disc has been pierced centrally for use as some sort of a mount. This re-use has presumably not occurred very many years after the use of the original coin and probably belongs to the second half of the 17th century. The area may also extend into NHER 53947.
See description in file.
Disclaimed as Treasue and returned to the finder (Treasure Ref: 2010 T341). Noted in Treasure Act Annual Report for 2010 (S1).
A. Marsden (NLA), 10 June 2010. Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 16 August 2023.
July 2013-April 2014. Systematic Fieldwalking and Metal-detecting Survey.
Survey of proposed route of Dudgeon Offshore Windfarm onshore cable (Field 130).
Finds recovered at this location included:
1 undatable burnt flint.
1 medieval buckle.
1 post-medieval button.
See report (S2) for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 16 August 2023.
