Map

June 2010. Norfolk NMP.
The site of a World War Two Barrage balloon, as well as four structures, at least one of which may be an Air Raid Precaution warden’s post, are visible on aerial photographs (S1-S4) on land between Fairfield Road and Orwell Road, Norwich.
The barrage balloon is only visible on the 1942 photographs (S1-S2), and appears to be tethered in the vicinity of TG 2221 0713.
There are three concrete structures nearby, visible on the 1945 photographs (S3-S4), two of which appear to exhibit blast walls at their assumed entrances, and these are likely to represent air raid shelters or home guard shelters. A fourth structure, sited at TG 2225 0722 may represent ARP post E6, sited at 'Fairfield Road near Town Close Road' (S5)
