Summary

The site of earthwork ditches and/or drains of uncertain date and significance are visible on aerial photographs to the south of the River Yare at Trowse Newton. The site of possible earthworks of unknown date and archaeological significance that looks most convincing in 1946. It potentially seems most likely that these may relate to a former meander in a natural drainage creek that has been cut through by the modern drain. Although it is feasible given the regularity of the some of the water filled channels and/or ditches that they relate to earthworks associated with enclosure and/or drainage on the valley floor, potentially of late medieval to post medieval date.

The site of earthwork ditches and/or drains of uncertain date and significance are visible on aerial photographs to the south of the River Yare at Trowse Newton (S1-S2). The site is centred on TG 2469 0703. The site of possible earthworks of unknown date and archaeological significance that looks most convincing in 1946 (S1). It is possible that the ditch to the northwest of the group, now separated by the main drain, may originally have formed part of the same feature, forming a rectilinear enclosed area. Although on balance it seems most likely the majority of these features relate to former natural drainage patterns and post medieval to modern drains.
