Map

2007. Test pit.
A very large quantity of medieval pottery, as well as late Saxon and later wares were recovered indicating that the site has been continuously occupied for around 1000 years. The building foundation area produced pottery dating to the 12th century, which could suggest that the building also dates to that period. It is be possible that the building could date to the late Saxon period, with the pottery getting into the slot when the building was demolished.
