Summary

Metal-detecting in 2010 recovered finds dating from the Iron age to the post-medieval period, including an Iron Age linch pin and Iron Age/Roman toggle, Roman coins, brooches and cuirass fragment, Early Saxon brooches, patrix and other metal objects, a Late Saxon ingot, a medieval mirror case, a medieval/post-medieval cauldron handle fragment, and a post-medieval finger-ring, Jew's harp and other metal objects. The Early Saxon finds here and previously recovered from HER 1826 and 31258 may indicate that this area was an Early Saxon inhumation cemetery. Metal-detecting in 2011 recovered parts of two Early Saxon brooches.
