Map

July 2010. Norfolk NMP.
A possible ring ditch is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs (S1) on land to the west of Thickthorn Farm, Hethersett.
It is centred on TG 1755 0575, and measures 25m in external diameter. The ditch appears to fluctuate from 1.2m to 4.5m, but may be obscured by geological features or agricultural activity. It is only visible on one photograph, which does not have a stereo pair, and has therefore been recorded with a note of caution.
E. Bales (NMP), 20 July 2010.

May-June 2009. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey of proposed development area (Fields 14-16).
There was no evidence for surviving sub-surface features associated with this possible ring ditch.
It should though be noted that this work revealed little evidence for archaeologically-significant remains elsewhere and the geology of the area is known to create conditions that are not particularly conducive to this kind of survey.
See report (S2) and NHER 64519 for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 25 January 2021.
