In 1839 the school was a simple one room building with boys and girls porches built in a Tudoresque style. In 1873 the school was enlarged in the 'Queen Anne' or Board School style to comprise two rooms with a sliding door between the two added to the end of the original room to form separate entrances for a boy's and girl's on either side of the original school. Between 1909 and 1910 a single square room was added at the other end of the original class room and another forming an L-shaped plan at the south end of the 1873 block. In the 1960s a flat roofed extension was added. The building is constructed from brick and flint with a pantile roof.
