July 2010. Norfolk NMP.
More than one possible prehistoric or Roman rectilinear enclosure are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S1) on land to the north of Valley Farm, Bawburgh.
The cropmarks are centred on TG 1536 0946. A large possible rectilinear enclosure is visible, on a north-south alignment, measuring 76 by at least 61m externally, along with further broad, blurred ditches, also approximately 76m apart, on a northeast-southwest alignment. Fieldwalking on the site (NHER 9293) has recovered prehistoric worked flints, Bronze Age and Iron Age pottery and Roman finds, and it is possible that these cropmarks relate to enclosures from the prehistoric or Roman period. However, the features are only visible on one set of photographs, and it is possible that they are geological, rather than archaeological in nature.
