Full Description
August 2010. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of ditches probably forming field boundaries and land divisions of probable medieval to post-medieval date, are visible on aerial photographs to the northwest of Wensum Mount Farm, Hellesdon (S1). The site is centred on TG 1925 1173. The ditches are all aligned along, or perpendicular to, the dominate alignment of the medieval to post-medieval landscape and as such are likely to be broadly of this date. Although it is worth noting that these cropmarks are located in close proximity to an area of a limited number of Roman date finds (NHER 7860) and this could feasibly indicate a Roman date for the cropmarks, although a medieval to post-medieval seems most likely.
S. Horlock (NMP), 12 August 2010.
