Map

March 2009. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of undated ditches, probably representing the remains of pre-post medieval field boundaries, are visible on aerial photographs (S1) within the former parkland surrounding Stoke Hall (NHER 9766). The site is centred on TG 2421 0049. Although undated it is possible that the ditches relate to medieval or earlier boundaries. The broader of the two ditches follows a similar alignment of a wide trackway to the north of the hall, which is thought to represent part of the pre-park layout, see NHER 14240 for details. Although it remains a possibility that the ditches relate to earlier, pre-medieval land divisions.
S. Horlock (NMP), 11 March 2009.
