Full Description
2010. Test-pit.
The site was first used in the Bronze Age and was then abandoned until the Roman period. The site was later occupied in the Middle Saxon period followed by absence of activity until the medieval and post-medieval periods.

23-25 June 2017. Test Pits. [1].
4 Test Pits were excavated by Binham Local History Group. Test Pits 2, 3 and 4 measured 1m x 1m, while Test Pit 1 measured approximately 2m x 1.5m. Finds recovered from the test pits were recorded by HES on the Portable Antiquities Scheme database. They are as follows:
Test Pit 1 (Located at [2]):
Context 1: 15 Roman pottery sherds.
Context 2: 25 Roman potery sherds.
Context 3: 16 Roman pottery sherds, medieval brick fragment.
Context 4. 22 Roman pottery sherds.
Context 6: 23 Roman pottery sherds, medieval roof tile fragment.
54 Roman pottery sherds from either TP1 Context 6 or TP3 Context 6.
Test Pit 2 (Located at [3]):
Context 1: 1 post-medieval pottery sherd, 9 Roman pottery sherds.
Context 2: 2 Roman pottery sherds, 1 medieval pottery sherd.
Context 3: 4 Roman pottery sherds.
Context 5: 1 Roman coin of Trajan, 21 Roman pottery sherds, 3 Roman tile fragments, 1 medieval pottery sherd.
Context 6: 18 Roman pottery sherds, 1 Roman tile fragment, 1 medieval pottery sherd.
Test Pit 3 (Located at [4]):
Context 3: 1 medieval pottery sherd, 1 medieval floor tile fragment.
Context 4: 4 Roman pottery sherds, 1 medieval roof tile fragment.
Context 5: 15 Roman pottery sherds, 1 medieval roof tile fragment.
Context 6: 37 Roman pottery sherds.
Context 7: 29 Roman pottery sherds, 1 medieval pottery sherd.
Context 8: 16 Roman pottery sherds.
Context 9: 13 Roman pottery sherds.
Test Pit 4 (Located at [5]):
Context 1: 3 Roman pottery sherds, 4 post-medieval pottery sherds.
Context 2: 4 Roman pottery sherds, 2 medieval roof tile fragments, 1 post-medieval pottery sherd.
Context 4: 2 Roman pottery sherds, 1 post-medieval pottery sherd.
Context 5: 61 Roman pottery sherds, 1 post-medieval pottery sherd.
