NHER 52154 (Cropmark and Earthwork record) - Cropmarks of fragmentary undated ditches, probably former field boundaries and trackways

March 2009. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of fragmentary undated ditches, probably former field boundaries and trackways, are visible on aerial photographs to the north of the Harford Park and Ride site (S1-S5). The site is centred on TG 2166 0439. Finds in the area include Neolithic and Roman material (NHER 13992 & 21861). For other field boundaries and a trackway in this area see NHER 52155.

Magnetometer survey of proposed development area to west of Ipswich Road.
In most cases there was no evidence for surviving sub-surface remains associated with the cropmarks that fall within the area examined (although it should be noted that the site's magnetic susceptibility is recorded as being generally low).
The one exception is an east-to-west aligned cropmark at TG 2184 0432, which corresponds with one of several weakly-enhanced linear magnetic anomalies recorded at this location (the line of which is possibly continued by one of the cropmarks recorded as NHER 52155). These are though thought to be of probable natural origin.
