Full Description
March 2009. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of a square enclosure of probable medieval to post medieval date is visible on aerial photographs to the west of Dunston Park (S1). The site is centred on TG 2206 0131. The enclosure, which is 35m across, is conjoined to the existing field boundary to the north and is aligned the same as other boundaries, now removed, but depicted on the Swainsthorpe Tithe map (S2). This enclosure and all of these boundaries are aligned in common with the Roman Pye Road to the immediate east (NHER 7947/52170), which remained in use as a road into the post medieval period.
S. Horlock (NMP), 25 March 2009.
