Summary

The cropmarks of a possible undated rectangular enclosure or post medieval agricultural boundaries are visible on aerial photographs to the south of Grange, Honingham. The enclosure is either bisected by the post medieval field boundary or is conjoined to it. It is possible that this ‘enclosure’ is in fact an agricultural division within the post medieval field pattern and not an enclosure pre-dating the layout.

Map

June 2010. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of a possible undated rectangular enclosure or post medieval agricultural boundaries are visible on aerial photographs to the south of Grange, Honingham (S1-S3). The site is centred on TG 1121 1049. The enclosure is either bisected by the post medieval field boundary or is conjoined to it. The southern boundary of the possible enclosure is broadly perpendicular to the post medieval field boundary to the east and is also parallel to other post medieval field boundaries visible on the aerial photographs to the south (S3), which were not mapped. It is therefore possible that this ‘enclosure’ is in fact an agricultural division within the post medieval field pattern and not an enclosure pre-dating the layout. Nothing is visible at this location on the available historic maps.
