Map

March 2009. Norfolk NMP.
The earthworks and cropmarks of platforms, enclosures and boundary ditches are visible on aerial photographs to the west of Highash Farm, Caistor St Edmund (S1-S5). The site is centred on TG 2483 0353. The platforms at the north of the site are likely to represent former tofts or agricultural platforms and enclosures, similar to those recorded to the east around French Church Farm (NHER 53215). Finds of late Saxon, medieval and post medieval date (NHER 19758, 36545) have been recovered within the general vicinity of the site. The sub-rectangular enclosure, visible only as a cropmark in (S3), and is likely to be an agricultural enclosure or paddock associated with this site, given its shared alignment with the medieval to post medieval boundaries.
The site is visible as combination of earthworks and cropmarks from 1946 onwards (S1-S3), however by the 1990s much of the site has been levelled and only the platforms and their surrounding ditches appear to be remaining as earthworks, which are clearly visible surviving on recent Google Earth images (S4-S5).
