Summary

The possible earthworks of boundary ditches, possibly associated with agricultural enclosures of medieval to post medieval date may be visible on aerial photographs to the west of Highash Farm, Caistor St Edmund. Although it must be noted that not all of these features could convincingly be identified on earlier aerial photographs of the site, which may suggest that they are in part the result of relatively recent agricultural practices.

Map

March 2009. Norfolk NMP.
The possible earthworks of boundary ditches, possibly associated with agricultural enclosures of medieval to post medieval date may be visible on aerial photographs to the west of Highash Farm, Caistor St Edmund (S1). The site is centred on TG 2453 0361. Although it must be noted that not all of these features could convincingly be identified on earlier aerial photographs of the site, for example (S2), which may suggest that they are in part the result of relatively recent agricultural practices. Other features possibly visible on (S2-S3) were also dismissed as being of no or little archaeological significance and again are most likely to be relatively recent in date.
