Map

March 2009. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of a series of post medieval field boundaries are visible on aerial photographs (S1-S2) to the west and east of Bloy’s Grove, on the Swainsthorpe and Mulbarton parish boundary. The site is centred on TG 2104 0056. These boundaries appear to pre-date the layout that is depicted on the undated mid-nineteenth century Swainsthorpe Tithe map (S3) and the 1840 Mulbarton Tithe map (S4). These are likely to be also be of post medieval date, although medieval origins for some or all of the boundaries is possible.
S. Horlock (NMP), 24 March 2009.

February-March 2021. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey of part of large proposed development area.
Although the area examined coincided with the majority of the cropmarks in this group there was little evidence for associated subsurface remains. The only potentially related response was a short east-to-west aligned anomaly that possibly continued the line of the cropmarks mapped between TG 2109 0066 and TG 2129 0065.
See report (S5) and NHER 65130 for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 7 July 2021.

February-June 2023. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of proposed development area to east of Bloy’s Grove.
A number of the trenches excavated at this location coincided with the east-to-west aligned features in the eastern half of this group. Of these, only one was found to have corresponding sub-surface remains, this no dating evidence recovered from this ditch. It should be noted that other cropmark features in this group couldn't be investigated as they fell within the exclusion zone for an overhead power line.
See report (S6) and NHER 65130 for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 28 March 2024.
