Map

March 2009. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of undated ditches, possibly relating to former field boundaries, are visible on aerial photographs (S1) to the west and east of Bloy’s Grove, to either side of the Swainsthorpe and Mulbarton parish boundary. The site is centred on TG 2098 0062. A number of less convincingly archaeological linear cropmarks within this area were omitted from the NMP mapping due to the likelihood of them being derived from underlying natural features and relatively modern drainage ditches. The ditch-like features mapped at TG 2086 0056 could feasibly be non-archaeological in origin, however these were retained due to the possibility that they did relate to former field boundaries.
S. Horlock (NMP), 24 March 2009.

February-March 2021. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey of part of large proposed development area.
Although the area examined coincided with the northernmost of the cropmarks in this group it recorded no evidence for surviving subsurface remains.
See report (S2) and NHER 65130 for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 7 July 2021.

February-June 2023. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of proposed development area to east of Bloy’s Grove.
The excavated trenches coincided with two cropmarks in this group, neither of which was associated with surviving sub-surface remains.
See report (S3) and NHER 65130 for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 28 March 2024.
