Trousbrigge (Henry VI) 'pantom de Trews' pre 1119 AD (S1).

An early 19th century print in file by Francis Stone (copy in file) shows a bridge of four round arches with pilasters above low cutwaters, and long abutment at west end. Bridge was rebuilt 1863 , architect R. M. Hipson, builder J. Stanley (plaque on north parapet) as one wide arch with smaller arch each side, stone faced, iron railings between crenels. It was widened to the south in 1886 when the stone cladding was reset, but the south face of the west arch lacks this cladding and may be the section rebuilt after the flood of 1912 by T. Heslop. However, from beneath one can see at least three stone ribs under the north side of the eastern arch, north of the line of demarcation between the 1863 and 1886 brickwork in the other arches; this indicates that part of the medieval bridge survives in this arch. Above, the walkway of the bridge is splayed to the northeast on an iron girder but still has the same parapet.
