Full Description
Iron working site. No documentary research. Photographic evidence and plans show forges, hot bulb engines, bellows and furnace. There was also a grindstone for corn driven by the forge machinery. Building is red brick with pantile roof.
See (S1). Marked as "Smithy" on 1st edition ordnance survey map (S2). From Google Earth (S3) the smithy house still exists although the roof pitch has been altered and gabled, new windows are installed and it is extended to the rear. Comparing to the 1st ed. O.S. maps, the foundry building appears to have been demolished.
