January 2011. Trial Trench.
Evaluation of proposed development site.
The excavation revealed 13th to 15th century ditch, pit and a shallow feature; and a north-south aligned chalk and limestone wall of late or post-medieval date which was probably a property boundary or the wall of a building. A large feature adjacent to the wall may represent a cellar and had been infilled with 19th century rubble. The ditch probably formed part of a property boundary and the pit contained material indicating domestic activity. Finds recovered included medieval and late post-medieval pottery and post-medieval ceramic building material.
