Map

April 2011. Norfolk NMP.
Undated fragmentary linear ditches are visible on aerial photographs (S1) to the north of Swardeston Common, Swardeston. It is possible that they are medieval to post medieval in date, being aligned in a similar way to some of the medieval to post medieval field boundaries recorded to the south east as NHER 52032.
Across the site a number of geological striped bands within the edge of the gravels are visible as cropmarks. Dark patches which may relate to pit features are also visible. The alignment of these is coincidental with a few of the sinuous ditches mapped, making confident identification of archaeological features problematic.
E. Bales (NMP), 15 April 2011.
