Full Description
3 and 10 April 2010. Fieldwalking.
Caistor Roman Town Project Fieldwalking (CRP 7 Field 76):
1 undatable prehistoric flint flake.
1 ?Mesolithic/Early Neolithic flint blade.
1 Iron Age pottery sherd (gritty, reduced with oxidised exterior).
2 medieval/post-medieval pottery sherds (LMT).
36 post-medieval pottery sherds (including late post-medieval ware, Glazed Red Earthenware, slipware and stoneware) and 20 clay tobacco pipe stems.
Flints identified by P. Robins (NCM) and other objects by A. Rogerson (HES). See list, map (S1) and (S2). Late post-medieval, recent and undatable ceramic building material; undatable and recent metal objects; recent glass; bone fragments and pieces of stone (including calcinated flints) not listed.
