Map

This wooden hut housed the terminal for the Borkum to Bacton submarine telegraph cable. It is believed to be a replacement for a building which was closer to the sea and as a result was a victim of coastal erosion. From here the telegraph was transmitted under the North sea one way and via overhead cable to North Walsham the other. The hut and telegraph poles were extant until the late 1990s. There is a modern brick and flint house on the site of the hut now.
