Map

The station was housed in a square brick building on a concrete plinth. There were two centrifugal pumps in the centre building. These were originally powered by the town's gas supply. The pumps and gas engines were by J and H Gwynne (1899). An extension was added, including another pump and engine specifically to pump away surface water drained from the streets. The system was modernised to use electricity, the motors were set to one side as the gas engines were still in situ. The building was scheduled for demolition in 1972, and the current electrically powered underground station occupies its space.
