Full Description
Built in 1922 for William George & Sons as a tannery. It was thought to be the longest surviving reinforced concrete building in Norwich. W. George & Sons remained in business on the site until 1963 whereupon it was purchased by Jarrold's, who used it for several purposes and eventually demolished it in 2000. The original building was reinforced concrete, however additions in the 1960s and 70s were built from brick. The building was 2 storeys high and the fact that all staircases gave full access to the roof might suggest a 3rd storey that was never installed. The site is visible on 1946 RAF aerial photographs.
