The original school was built by the Lord of the Manor in 1845 for 90 children (see NHER 55656). The school was moved and completely rebuilt in 1907 in the current location in the plain 'Board School' style by the County Council. The building is constructed from carstone with red brick quoins and a corrugated tile roof.
