Map

This was the house of the superintendent of the Norwich cattle market. Built from grey brick with a slate roof.
The house was situated at the highest point, allowing for a view of the whole marketplace. The house was also next to the entrance and the market weighbridge was installed in front of the house some time before 1973 so that all livestock was weighed and documented. The weighbridge was removed some time in the 20th century and the house was demolished in 1988 during clearance for the Castle Mall project. The house is visible on the 1st edition 1 inch ordnance survey map (S1). The is also a building in the same place on earlier, local maps (1830). It is however a different shape and is built away from the main complex of buildings, so it is unlikely the same house.
See (S2).
