Full Description
November 2011. Historic Building Recording.
Record made of barn and outbuildings prior to their proposed conversion to a single residential dwelling.
The barn is isolated from the rest of Manor Farm, which has a traditional range of farm buildings, located around the farmhouse 230m to the east. The farm is possibly shown on Bryant's map (1826) which shows a development where the main farm buildings are located (S1). The farm is believed to date from the late 17th century but there is no evidence on Faden's Map (1797) for development on the north side of the road within the vicinity of Manor Farm or the barn (S2). The barn has five bays with two bays each side of the threshing floor. The original floor is either covered by the existing concrete floor or missing. The building is constructed from brick laid in Flemish bond with red pantile roof.
See report (S3) for further details.
S. Howard (HES), 22 December 2011.
