Map

March 2010. Fieldwalking Survey (Field 12).
Field survey of narrow strip at northern edge of field (part of large proposed developent area).
The survey recovered flint core and blade of Neolithic to Early Bronze Age date; Roman, medieval and post-medieval pottery.
See report (S1) for further details. The results of this work are also summarised in (S2).
S. Howard (HES), 30 June 2011.

August-September 2015. Metal-detecting Survey.
Systematic surveys within proposed development area (MDs 2 and 3).
The first of the two small areas examined in this field (MD2) coincided with the recorded location of two cropmark ring-ditches (NHER 29829). The small number of metal objects recovered here included a medieval brooch, an unidentified copper alloy object of probable medieval/post-medieval date and a lead object that was possible part of a post-medieval candlestick.
The second area examined actually coincided with a site of a large former quarry pit where objects had been recovered during the 1920s (NHER 9142). The copper alloy mount of possible post-medieval date was the only object recovered at this location.
Information from report uploaded to OASIS. HER copy awaited.
P. Watkins (HES), 1 March 2022.
