Map

March 2010. Systematic Fieldwalking and Metal-detecting Survey.
Field survey of proposed development area (Field 13).
The survey recovered a large assemblage of struck flint including flakes, blades, cores (including at least one blade core), scrapers, one arrowhead and one microlith. The microlith is Mesolithic and it is possible that two patinated soft-hammer struck bladelets and a cylindrical bladelet core are also of Mesolithic or Early Neolithic date. It is also notable that this assemblage also contained a relatively high proportion of blades, indicative of a Mesolithic date. The arrowhead is an example of the hollow base type and is therefore probable Late Neolithic in date.
Pottery dating from the Late Neolithic to Early Bronze Age, Roman, medieval and post-medieval pottery was also recovered.
See report (S1) for further details. The results of this work are also summarised in (S2).
