Map

April 2011. Auger Survey.
Geoarchaeological assessment of proposed development site.
The geoarchaeological survey revealed environmental sediments comprising crag, clay and peats deposits dating from the Neolithic to modern period. The Roman and post-Roman channel of Womack Water was formerly wider than its current form and would have extended under the reed bed. The channel has become infilled by loose peat forming a silty matrix. As the Roman and post-Roman channel would have been navigable there is the potential for archaeological finds to be recovered to the south of the site.
