Map

July 2011
The approximate course of a possible Roman Road may survives as Seamere Road and Norwich Road in Hingham parish and Hingham Road in Deopham parish. A road along this course would provide a connection between two known west to east aligned Roman roads - the road extending eastwards from Saham Toney Roman fort which can be traced as far as Scoulton (NHER 8786 and 18322) and the road running west from Caistor St Edmund to Wicklewood (NHER 19725). However, it should be noted that at present there is no conclusive evidence for this route being of Roman origin.
