Map

According to (S1) 'a park is recorded in 1364 (Calender of Patent Rolls 1361-1364, 506) in a reference that itself refers to an earlier charter temp. Henry II, confirming rights over turbaries enclosed within a park of Roger Bigod. Depending on which Roger is referred to, this would place the park no later than 1189'.

A map of 1633 in the NRO shows 'The Growndes of the Lord Called The Lawnes' around the west and south of Acle Wood. The lord of the manor was then Henry Calthorpe Esq. The boundaries as mapped are based on that map but are approximate and open to revision.
A. Yardy (HES), 3 August 2011.
