Map

Site of a garden folly constructed from re-used masonry, including tracery, and apparently designed to resemble a medieval ruin. The structure is marked on (S1) close to the railway embankment, in the grounds of a building labelled 'Bungalow' but which is, in fact, a house (now 105 Carrow Road). It is referred to by a character in (S2) as: 'a bit of a ruin, with a narrow arch in it, left at the side of the line'.
(S3) appears to show part of what appears in plan form on (S1).
(S4) notes that the boundary of the railway land has moved northwards. The remains, if they still exist, must now overgrown and on land within railway ownership.
A. Yardy (HES), 10 August 2011.
