NHER 54651 (Monument record) - Site of undated ditches, probably medieval and later field boundaries

Cropmarks visible on aerial photographs (S1) are likely to represent former field boundaries of medieval or later date. The regular, rectilinear cropmark centred at TG 0769 0117 is probably of post medieval date. Unlike some other linear cropmarks visible on the same photographs, it is not depicted on Wicklewood Tithe Map (S2) of 1844, and presumably pre-dates it, although the possibility that it is a more modern feature cannot be ruled out. The more irregular cropmark at TG 0769 0099 may be of earlier, perhaps medieval origin.

Magnetometer survey of site on proposed route of Anglian Water Norwich to Wymondham water pipeline.
The northernmost of the two cropmarks in this group fell partially within one of the areas examined. There was however no evidence for corresponding sub-surface remains, although the survey did identify a number of potentially archaeologically-significant anomalies elsewhere in the field.
