Summary

Two large possible extraction pits of an unknown date were identified as part of a rapid identification survey in 1998 and are seen as earthworks on visualised lidar data. It is possible these feature may relate to post-medieval extraction pits; however the earthworks are not seen on the Tithe map or First or Second Edition Ordnance Survey maps. It is also possible these features may have related to military training and are possibly associated to the group of pits and mounds to the east (NHER 63069) or Cranwich Camp to the south (NHER 25240).
