Full Description
Former Calvinistic Methodist Chapel built in 1754 by James Wheatley who also built a Tabernacle in Norwich. This building was leased to John Wesley in 1758 but he gave up the lease in 1763. The chapel was later used by General Baptists, who formed a church of the New Connexion in 1814. Baptist use ceased around 1960-70 and the building has since been used for farm storage.
The chapel measures 35 feet by 24 feet with brick walls renewed in 1875 and partly replacing clay lump. The roof is covered with dark glazed pantiles. A stone tablet above the doorway is inscribed 'Baptist Chapel … erected 1754 restored 1875'.
