Map

November 2010-March 2011. Watching Brief.
Monitoring of groundworks for extension.
Revealed a well that is likely to predate the 19th century terraces constructed from brick and flint. The absence of a pump or well symbol on the 6 inch 1st edition ordnance survey map (1885) and the location of the well within a former alley suggests that this feature may have been set within what was believed to have been an open yard area or gardens with their frontage further to the west prior to the establishment of Duke Street.
See report (S1) for further details.
S. Howard (HES), 7 September 2011.
