Full Description
October 2011. Norfolk NMP.
Earthworks, possibly relating to medieval and/or post-medieval enclosure and perhaps settlement, are visible on aerial photographs (S1)-(S4), centred at TG 1021 0111. They are most convincing as features of archaeological interest on photographs taken in January 1946 (S1)-(S2), on which a covering of snow enhances their appearance, but also that of what may be relatively modern boundaries and tracks. Some or all of the features could instead relate to drainage and/or to post-medieval field boundaries of low archaeological significance, although they certainly differ from the more obviously modern and drainage-related features to the northeast. Due to this uncertainty regarding their archaeological nature, and to lack of time, they have not been mapped. Modern aerial photographs suggest that they have been levelled.
S. Tremlett (NMP), 5 October 2011.
