Map

October 2011. Norfolk NMP.
A possible ring ditch, of unknown but perhaps prehistoric date, is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs (S1), centred at TG 0653 0307. It is only visible on an image from a single year, and not particularly clearly on that, and its identification as an archaeological feature is uncertain, but it could represent the former site of a Bronze Age round barrow. Others are known from the area (see NHER 36127 770m to the north) and a low-lying position next to a watercourse is not uncommon in Norfolk (compare cemetery NHER 50649 at Morton on the Hill). Other linear cropmarks visible in the same field are likely to relate to modern field drains.
The ring ditch, which is incomplete, is broadly circular in plan and measures up to 33.5m in diameter.
S. Tremlett (NMP), 5 October 2011.
