Full Description
February 2011. Watching Brief.
Monitoring of groundworks associated with alterations to TNT Thetford Depot.
This work revealed ditches forming the remains of a post-medieval field system. Two ditches may represent evidence for an earlier enclosure and field system. A residual Middle Palaeolithic flint Mousterian point was recovered in one of the ditches. These objects are made on Levallois flakes and are rare in Norfolk.
See report (S1) in file for full details.
The archive associated with this work has been deposited with the Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2011.452).
