About 2006. Metal-detecting.
Findspot unknown but likely to have been in Deopham or Morley parish:
Incomplete Middle Saxon cast silver hanging-bowl escutcheon of trapezoidal bird-like shape (S1).
Not recognised as an object of significance by the finder until given to [1] as a Christmas present. The importance of the piece was recognised by [1], who submitted it for identification by Norfolk’s Identification and Recording Service.
Submitted as potential Treasure (Treasure case 2011 T605) and subsequently donated to Norwich Castle Museum by [2] (accession number NWHCM : 2011.409)
