Summary

In January 2011 a collection of artefacts was donated to Methwold History Society but the exact findspots of the objects within this collection are unknown. The collection includes a Mesolithic/Neolithic flint adze, Roman and post-medieval coins, post-medieval tokens and a Roman pudding stone quern. Some of the collection may originate from the site of a Roman villa recorded under HER4780.

Found near Methwold Hythe:
1 Mesolithic/Neolithic flint adze. See illustration (S1).
Identified by J. Gibbons (HES), see description in file.

In January 2011 a collection of artefacts was donated to Methwold History Society but the exact findspots of the finds within this collection are unknown. Some of the finds (Roman and post-medieval coins, post-medieval tokens and a Roman pudding stone quern) may originate from HER 4780, the site of a Roman Villa at 'Sleisham'. Consequently, these finds have been recorded here and under HER 4780. The coin sheets are filed under HER 4780. See [1].
