One of three milestones along the Potter Heigham to Hoveton road

Protected Status/Designation

Location

Map sheet TG31NE
Civil Parish LUDHAM, NORTH NORFOLK, NORFOLK

Map

All three milestones along this route are heavily weathered, with no surviving inscriptions. (S1) states that the second edition OS map marks them all as "defaced" while the first edition OS map does not give a location or distances for a milestone here. However, this milestone is positioned almost exactly a mile away from both NHER 56635 and NHER 56637, possibly indicating that this milestone originally stated Norwich 13 miles and Yarmouth 13 miles.

The three milestones are of two different types, with this milestone being wedge-shaped.
