Map

December 2011. Building Survey.
Level 2 survey of redundant farm buildings at Willow Farm prior to their proposed conversion to residential dwellings.
The farm first appears on Faden's 1797 map and is shown as an inverted U-shape group of buildings with a cart lodge and second building to the west shown on the 1840 tithe map and the 1886 Ordnance Survey map. The farmhouse appears to date from the late 18th century or early 19th century and is built from red brick laid in Flemish bond with sash windows and a slate roof. The roadside barn is possibly the same date as the house or earlier and is constructed from red brick laid in English bond. The stables are constructed from carstone slipwork with gault brick details in a Stow Estate style, which was fashionable from 1860 onwards. The stables are linked to the barn via a brick building that was formerly a pair of open shelter sheds converted to a stable and tack room. The west range of shelters and stores have carstone slipwork similar to the stables and are probably contemporary. The southern range of buildings is constructed from brick after 1905 and before 1928 with a king post truss roof similar to the cart lodge and gig house to the west. The farmstead became redundant in the late 20th century and was used for vehicle repair from 2000. A fire in 2007 severely damaged the north-west corner of the farmyard.
