Protected Status/Designation

  • None recorded

Location

Civil Parish HONING, NORTH NORFOLK, NORFOLK

Map

One of 2 surviving milestones along the Sloley to Honing roads, however (S1) indicates that there were a series of 5 milestones along lanes through Sloley, Worstead, Briggate and Honing. As the final milestone is positioned by the entrance to Honing Hall, it is likely that they were put up by the Hall's owners to guide visitors there.

This milestone is made from sandstone and is tombstone-shaped, and has no visible inscription, however, the first edition OS map indicates a milestone marking Norwich 14 miles was postioned here.

(S1) contains information regarding this and the other milestone along this route.
