Map

March-April 2011. Trial Trenching.
Twenty eight trial trenches were excavated in three discrete areas in advance of construction of a new bio-energy plant. Very few archaeological features and finds were encountered, but landscape and environmental data was recorded.
No archaeological features were recorded within this south-eastern investigation area (Trenches 1-6), but the greater depth of deposits indicates that the trenches were located within the margins of an earlier course of the River Wissey, confirming previous hypotheses.
See report (S1) for further information.
See NHER 56667 for details of the southern investigation area and NHER 58287 for details of the western investigation area.
The archive associated with this work has been deposited with the Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2011.302).
